“2010 promises to be an exciting and dynamic year for everyone involved in our school. St. Katherine’s truly is the best place for young people to grow up. Please come and visit us soon”
Stephanie Quayle, Headteacher
Welcome
St. Katherine’s School is a co-educational comprehensive school for young people aged 11-19 years, offering students a unique learning environment often only experienced in the independent sector. We are situated on the edge of Bristol, only 2 miles from the Clifton Suspension Bridge, located in a beautiful rural environment. The school is relatively small, with just under 1000 students and benefits from strong transport links being just off one of the main arterial routes to Bristol and close to the M5.
Students at St. Katherine’s come from a wide variety of schools with 70% of students coming from Bristol primaries. The 2008 Ofsted report described “Students at St. Katherine's as confident, articulate and thoughtful young people who show pride in their school and respect for one another. One student commented, 'I can't imagine a better place to grow up.'
Continued academic success and outstanding Ofsted report has meant graduation as a High Performing Specialist School and Lead School for Gifted and Talented, building on excellent work as a Science College since 2003. St Katherine’s is the first secondary school in the UK to gain the Gold Award on the Food for Life Programme and is a flagship school and community. The majority of our students stay on in the outstanding sixth form achieving excellent results at A Level. St. Katherine’s offers all sixth form students the chance to flourish and develop essential life skills. Having enjoyed an extensive and flexible choice of subjects for A Level and BTEC courses, many go on to higher education, including redbrick universities, across the UK.
In 2008 Ofsted described many of our results and practices as "outstanding".
