Sixth form students at St Katherine’s School in Ham Green are celebrating a record-breaking set of exam results. The number of students achieving A*-A grades at A Level jumped to 28%, 12% higher than 2017, A*-B grades jumped to a record 61%, 12% higher than 2017, with 91% of students achieving A*-C grades beating the previous record by 13%. The overall pass rate was 100%.
Coupled with students achieving distinction* or distinction grades in vocational subjects, 63% achieved A*-B grades or equivalent. St Katherine’s continues to deliver excellent outcomes across both academic and vocational pathways for all their students.
Notable student successes included Remi Khalif who gained three A* grades and will take up a place at Leeds University to study Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering. Peter Blake and Zoe Coughlan secured two A* grades and one A grade and go on to study Mechanical Engineering at Bath University and Mathematics at Bristol University respectively.
These excellent results mean the vast majority of students secured their first choice university and 39% (up from 21% 2017) have secured places at Russell Group universities including Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, Queen Mary’s and Cardiff.
Additionally, 52% of students securing a university place are the first generation in their family to do so. A number of students have also secured a range of apprenticeship and employment pathways.
